LinkedIn:In or Out?

LinkedIn: In or Out?

Most people have heard of LinkedIn, many have set-up profiles there, but few know its potential. Launched in 2003, LinkedIn has had more than 467 million accounts created, connecting employers and employees through this digital media. While some think LinkedIn is just another site to drop your resume or a place for recruitment, it is actually a great place to market your business. Here are three reasons why you should consider LinkedIn.

  1. Easier Networking

LinkedIn has a large database available for everyone to access. With companies, CEOs, and employees all over the world coming together, it allows a great opportunity for your business to gain more exposure. You can join LinkedIn Groups within your industry to expand your reach and allow customers interested in a similar product to get to know you. As you provide insights on certain issues that are raised, you are essentially soft-selling yourself to potential customers about what you know and can do.

  1. Ability to Add Credibility

LinkedIn provides people the opportunity to recognize your credentials and acknowledge them. More than just sharing interesting content on your profile, you can also join LinkedIn Answers and LinkedIn Groups. LinkedIn Answers acts like any Q&A site- a question is posted to the public and answers are given by anyone. Providing a helpful answer establishes you as an expert among users and if a few of your answers get selected as ‘Best Answer’, they will appear on your profile. This solidifies your position in the industry.

  1. Recommendations

Recommendations is an added feature by LinkedIn that allows you to show your qualifications or skills. What makes this special is your contacts can recommend you for certain skills and the recommendations will appear on your profile page. You are not bragging about your own skills- people are, and that makes it believable. As your qualifications and skills are approved by more users, your brand absorbs the benefits because ultimately, the employee reflects the brand.

With the recent purchase of LinkedIn by Microsoft in 2016, we at Marketing Connection do not see this social networking site to be slowing down any time soon. Instead, as a digital media agency, we highly encourage you to utilize this tool so that your brand can grow further. So, the question now is, are you linked in?
