Organic Downfall

Organic Downfall

Facebook has been a great tool to communicate to the masses. From staying in touch with your friends and loved ones, it is also known and widely utilised by corporate companies and businesses to advertise, from organic reach and paid reach. Last year, an update from Facebook was issued it’s about to change your game in advertising if organic reach is your only way of playing this.

Web Design by Marketing Connection

Facebook is now attempting to curb the amount of ads that your viewers see on their Timeline, they are achieving this by limiting the amount of organic reach a page can have onto the main timeline. On the 23rd of October 2017, a Guardian article has stated that this new system is being trialed in 6 different countries including Slovakia, Serbia and Sri Lanka. Overall the report has shown that majority of the non-promoted (un-boosted) adverts were shifted to secondary feeds.

As such, the user engagement rates of smaller publications on their Facebook pages have seen a 60% – 80 % drop, which is not a small amount. This could spell disaster for those out there who are just relying on organic reach. In the long run, this is going to affect your business and your exposure rate.

As a business that needs the exposure via social media, there is not a lot that you can do to counteract this problem, unless the authorities of Facebook decides it otherwise. What you can do with your money is how you spend it. Target your customers accordingly, figure out your niches and target demographics. While you’re spending your funds to bring your ads to the masses, here at Marketing Connection we can assist you at targeting the right people on social media, making sure that your funds do not go to waste.
